Lower Tanque Verde Falls

Beautiful, rugged canyon with perennial tinajas (natural pools of water), seasonal waterfalls, and ephemeral creek. Learn from this natural abundance, and get inspired to strive to collaborate with it in a way that sustains it, helps grow it, and enhances its larger watershed and catchment.

About a 1.25-mile hike in to the main falls, then 1.25 mile back. For about two-thirds of the distance there is no trail. Instead, you must scramble up the stream bed, wade through water, boulder hop, and locate narrow paths through bedrock and boulders. The turn-around point is the big waterfall and pool.
Beware of flash floods in the rainy season.
