If you have never seen award winning rainwater harvesting author Brad Lancaster DON’T miss your chance April 7th. He will present an inspiring talk on how to turn water scarcity into water abundance with eight universal principles of water harvesting along with simple and effective strategies. The principles empower you to create integrated water-sustainable landscape plans at home and throughout your community. His talk covers:
• Rainwater harvesting – the process of capturing rain and making the most of it, as close as possible to where it falls.
• Greywater harvesting – the process of directing water from household sink, bathtub, shower, and washing machine drains into the soils of the landscape where the water is naturally filtered and reused to generate more on-site resources.
• Stormwater harvesting – the process of directing street runoff into street-side water-harvesting earthworks to passively irrigate trees to shade the street.
The three work hand in hand, and can reduce our water consumption by 30 to 50%!
Brad will present examples that enhance local food production, passively cool cities in summer, reduce costs of living and energy consumption, control erosion, avert flooding, revive dead waterways, minimize water pollution, build community, create celebration, and much more.
