Tucson community members concerned about the catastrophic effects of global warming have organized an event called Solar Rock, as part of the National Day of Climate Action on April 14, 2007.  Solar Rock will be a 100% solar-powered concert featuring local youth talent and prominent guest speakers on the issue of global climate change and its potential effects on the American Southwest. This event will also include family activities and displays by local schools, college students, community organizations and local green businesses.
The event’s speakers will be:  US Rep. Raúl Grijalva; AZ Rep. Steve Farley; Dr. Joaquin Ruiz, Dean of the University of Arizona College of Science;  Chairman Richard Elías of the Pima County Board of Supervisors;  Colleen Crowninshield from the Pima Association of Governments;  and Dr. Melanie Lenart from the University of Arizona’s Institute for the Study of Planet Earth.
Local Musicians will be:  The Thesis, The Watchmen, Kool Shades, Arthur Migliazza, Arizona Youth Chamber Ensemble, Grandpa Moses, Jon & Jeff and Mark Holdaway
