Course participants will be part of the world-changing movement to “green the deserts” of the Middle East through the design principles of Permaculture — learning skills such as rainwater harvesting, food forest production, home-scale gardening to maximize production on small acreages, and more.
Participants will also have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture, trying traditional Palestinian food and touring the ancient Salfit area. This course also allows students to gain a greater understanding of the impact of the Israeli occupation in Palestine.
The PDC will run from the April 10– 24, 2011, in the village of Marda, Salfit district, Palestine. All classes will be taught in English with Arabic translation, and include interactive practical and theoretical delivery.
Scholarships are available for Palestinian students.
