Planning a Sustainable Community Space in an Urban Lot – Water Harvesting

Join Menlo Park neighbors in a series of four workshops that will teach participants how to transform an abandoned historic half-acre property into a multi-use community space by following some basic principles of permaculture. All workshops will take place on site at 17 N. Linda Avenue, in Barrio Menlo Park, Tucson, Arizona.

The third and fourth workshops will be more hands-on as participants implement the concept design. Under the direction of Brad Lancaster, author of Rainwater Harvesting for Drylands, and Ann Phillips, the group will build infiltration basins, berm ‘n basins, and other water harvesting earthworks and plant native and local heirloom vegetation.
NOTE: Registration for each workshop is limited to 20 participants with priority given to Menlo Park residents. Fee: $30 per class, payable to Menlo Park Neighborhood Association. Scholarships and work-trade available.
